If you are buying prepared lemonade: to serve, add 1 tbsp of cherry syrup to each glass of lemonade.
Ingredients
Simple syrup | ||

1 cup | cherry juice from Ontario Pitted Black Sweet Cherries | (250 mL) |
3/4 cup | white sugar | (175 mL) |
Lemonade | ||
1 cup | lemon juice (from about 4-6 lemons) | (250 mL) |
4-6 cups | still or sparkling water. Dilute to suit your taste. | (1-1.5 L) |
Directions
Simple syrup:
- In a saucepan, stir together cherry juice and sugar.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat and simmer for approximately 3-5 minutes. Stir frequently, until sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside.
- This makes approximately 1.5 cups of simple syrup which may be kept covered in the fridge for 1 week.
Lemonade:
- Blend cherry syrup, lemon juice and add water to suit your taste.
- Depending on how sour your lemons are, you might prefer to add a little extra cherry syrup to sweeten further.
- Serve over ice.
